In January of 1982 after establishing Jacmel Inn, a fine dinning restaurant, and Brady's Grill and Bar in Hammond, Hoot Owl owners Paul Murphy and Rick Calucci along with Mandeville native Wally Simmons, took over the lease of the former Prieto Dry Goods store on Gerrard street in Mandeville. Paul, Rick and Wally completely remodeled the interior on their own with a vision to bring a classical New York style dinning room to the quiet North Shore town. The extensive remodeling was an example of keeping the unique New Orleans style structure outside intact while creating a rich restaurant experience inside. A Mandeville icon was born of this effort. Nuvolari's has maintained a degree of culinary sophistication that matches the unique interior of the restaurant. This hightened degree of Italian fine dinning started with the first Chef Tim Eihausen and continues today. The kitchen, along with the restaurant, was hand crafted to bring to Mandeville and the North Shore a one of a kind dinning experience. Upon entering the foyer of Nuvolari's, you can tell that a unique restaurant lies before you. Rich hugh's of wood and soft lighting creates an aura of sophistication that relaxes patrons and prepares them for a wonderful dinning experience. A cozy dinning nook is on the right and the full main dinning room expands on your left. The main dining room has staggered levels that allows for full dinning room but never feeling crowded. Beyond the foyer lies a large hand-crafted ornate bar prefect for starting the evening or ending a night. A year after opening, the success of Nuvolari's Restaurant encouraged Paul, Rick and Wally to expand the dining area and the Red Room was built out and has remained one of the most beautiful dinning rooms on the North Shore. Twelve years later, the final dinning room was designed and built, The Tea Room is reserved for private meetings and special occasions. The two dinning rooms compliment but do not imitate the Main Dinning room. This one of a kind architecture, consistently superb cuisine and wonderful staff make Nuvolari's a true dinning experience!
